The Brown Brothers

  • In 1989, Andre “Beast” Brown from “The Last Dragon,” and Kevin “Dotcom” Brown from “30 Rock,” founded the first Black owned Comedy Club in New York History... “The Iconic Uptown Comedy Club."

  •  They launched the careers of Tracy Morgan and many others.

  • Kevin Brown was the Comedian's manager and Andre Brown was their teacher

  • They are the founders of Hip-Hop Comedy paving the way for BET's ComicView, Apollo Comedy Hour, MTV's Yo Mama, Snaps, Nick Cannon Presents Wild n' Out, and Many, Many More!

  • That's not all...They're also the TRUE Creators of Def Comedy Jam....(but More on that subject to come)

  • The brown brothers are both holders of multiple black belts in the martial arts, which brought them the level of discipline that it takes to disrupt an industry like the comedy clubs scene.

  • They are still artists, they are still partners and they are still brothers.

  • Most importantly they are inviting you along for the ride of the Uptown comedy club 2.0

Did You Know?

"Joke Thieves"

  • Since the beginning of comedy, there are people who write jokes people who create jokes and people who steal jokes.

  • One of the reasons that the Uptown comedy club started its workshops was to regulate and eliminate the theft of a person’s material or their intellectual property.

  • There are many scoundrels in the game who think it’s OK to take someone’s joke with no repercussions.

  • Well those days and now the Uptown comedy club will not only launch a campaign to crack down on joke theft but we will regulate by any means necessary what do you think?

Black Entertainment

  • The Uptown Comedy Club started blowin' up.

  •  Many celebrities came through—i.e. Black Hollywood: Russell Simmons, Malcolm Jamaal Warner, Sean P. Diddy Combs, Andre Harrell, Kid N' Play, R & B Band Tony Toni Tone to name a few “in the house”.

  • Just about everybody Black who came to New York checked out the “Uptown Comedy Club”.

  • It was the hottest thing for Black entertainment!
